Central City Plaza
ZND has officially adopted Central City Plaza as the newest Historic District in Milwaukee!!
Thank you to the entire community who came out to support this, wrote letters, signed petitions, spoke to the Alderwoman, your neighbors, your friends...your voices were heard and amplified for all of history.
It goes without saying a very special thanks to Do_co,mo.mo Wisconsin for their partnership and advocacy, Ald. Milele A. Coggs for so strongly engaging the community, and especially The Salvation Army of Wisconsin for their extreme adaptability, willingness to listen and learn with open hearts, and to passionately explore adaptive reuse.
This truly was a success of collaboration, communication, kindness, and village. In a time that is so fractured and full of divide, Milwaukeeans came together and rallied to save a vital history from erasure. To quote the Alderwoman, "These walls were built to last for this very moment."
